You’ve perhaps heard the famous names of the great African National Parks  – The Serengeti, the Masai Mara, Tsavo and Kruger. Game viewing in these vast regions is one of the most exciting experiences any traveller can have, especially if you are in the right place at the right time to witness the Great Migration as enormous herds look for fresh grazing.

Perhaps what you didn’t realise is the sheer variety of safari tours and game lodges on offer.

Kenya – Safari’s tend to be in 4×4’s, staying in a different camp each night. Or you could travel around in more comfort and style you could choose an Air Safari flying in a light aircraft between the camps. Safari’s can be anything from 3 nights to two weeks.

Tanzania – Home of the enormous Serengeti and the starting point for the Great Migration. Most safaris also involve staying in a different location each night. Mount Kilimanjaro stands watchful over the great plains and provides a stunning backdrop to your game-viewing. The Ngorongoro Crater is another famous sight, created 3 million years ago this caldera now also provides an abundance of wildlife.

Zambia – Home of majestic Victoria Falls and some incredible game viewing regions such as the South Luangwa National Park, famous for walking safaris escorted by armed guides. Luxury camps are used as a base and if lucky you can even see Elephants stroll through the lobby at Mfuwe.

Botswana – The Okavango Delta and Chobe National Parks are famous for Hippos and Elephants thriving in large numbers and is where you can go game viewing by boat.

South Africa – Safaris in South Africa usually involve staying in Game-Lodge on a private reserves for shorter periods of perhaps 2 or 3 days. With varying standards of luxury, these lodges are usually full-board and include two game drives per day. Kruger is the most famous location but you could also consider the Eastern Cape which is Malaria-free. South Africa also benefits from an abundance of other sights which can be combined with game viewing to create an all-round holiday.
