Holidays & Tours to
Las Vegas

The legalizing of gambling in Nevada and the Hoover Dam construction brought prosperity and rapid growth to what was a modest, dusty desert town. Las Vegas is now astonishing, loud, brash, busy, dazzling and exciting. The first hotels and casinos opened in the 1930’s, and in 1989 the enormous Mirage Hotel & Casino first opened its doors, and kick started the development of the mega-hotels and casinos, many of them themed, all of them huge! Resorts such as The Bellagio, The Venetian, Paris, Luxor, MGM Grand are all famous worldwide and Las Vegas now has more hotel rooms than anywhere else in the world and is a hot destination for over 35 million visitors each year. That’s more than the entire population of Canada!

In Las Vegas you’ll be able to experience thrilling shows & theme park rides, you can laze away the day by the pool in the hot sunshine, and in the evening experience fine dining followed by the excitement of the casinos. All this in a desert resort surrounded by some of the most iconic scenery the USA has to offer in the form of the Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion National Parks, and Death Valley.

Las Vegas has been a favourite of our customers since the 1980’s, and  Millington Travel has a wealth of experience of this amazing destination so let us help plan your perfect trip.

Millington Travel’s Top Ten things to see & do in Las Vegas

  1. Get Married. Yes, why not tie the knot here? Go for a fun little ceremony at a wedding chapel with Elvis, or a large classy do in one of the big resort hotels. Either way, Vegas makes the perfect destination to say ‘I do’.
  2. Scare yourself. Someone decided that the top of the Stratosphere tower is a good place for some of the most thrilling rides in the world which will shoot you upwards and over the edge of this 1000ft tower.
  3. See a show. Vegas is less about art, and more about amazement, so you’ll be able to see some of the worlds biggest music stars, as well as incredible acts such as Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil, along with magicians and hypnotists.
  4. Helicopter flight. Take a thrilling flight over the Strip, or go further afield and see the magnificent Grand Canyon from the air – the only way to fully appreciate it’s size – taking in the Hoover Dam along the way.
  5. Gondola ride – The Venetian is the place to be for a little taste of Italy on this romantic ride through the ‘canals’ of this huge themed hotel.
  6. American Muscle Car Challenge – head for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and drive three American super-cars – the Shelby Ford Mustang GT500, the Chevvy Camaro ZL1, and the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392.
  7. Hard Rock Cafe, Las Vegas Strip. The most eagerly anticipated Hard Rock Cafe in the world has 3 floors of non-stop action, with an interactive Rock Wall, and Microsoft Surface tables. The classic Hard Rock menu in an incredible setting next to the MGM Grand.
  8. Grand Canyon Skywalk – This glass floored walkway has been thrilling visitors since 2007. Dare you look down to the Colorado River below?
  9. Fly-Drive – make Las Vegas a stop on a wider Fly-Drive Holiday and as well as the Grand Canyon you’ll be able to take in such incredible sights such as Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and Monument Valley.
  10. Visit a casino. Most Hotels have one so they are easily accessible and friendly. The cornerstone of Las Vegas’ entertainment for 80 years is an absolute must. No kids allowed though!

When to go?

Las Vegas is very hot in summer, with temperatures regularly over 100F. A hotel pool offers welcome relief from the heat. Winter is cool at night, but daytimes are pleasantly warm although perhaps not warm enough for sunbathing. The best time to visit for the weather is March-May, and September – November when the temperatures are a little cooler than the summer months and prices are cheaper too!
