CUBA HOLIDAYS

Over the years we’ve heard many people say, go to Cuba before it changes. In reality, although Cuba has begun to become a little more liberal, it still has a timeless quality of a country immune to change. Think of the Caribbean and you think of fabulous beaches, blue skies and laid-back people. Think of Cuba and you have all that with a Latin twist and a colourful, eventful history making this sunny island a firm favourite with our clients.

For those of you who are of a certain age, names like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara conjure up images of revolution, of a time when the ideologies of the West and of the Soviet Union collided, nearly resulting in a third World War, all in this unlikely corner of the Caribbean. This period of Cuba’s history has helped shape it into a fascinating destination, proudly untouched by western consumerism. That said Cuba recognised its potential and has developed many 5 star International standard hotels on stunningly perfect white sand beaches, along with fabulous restaurants to make Cuba the perfect destination for beach lovers and culture vultures alike.

Millington Travel have been booking customers to Cuba for almost 20 years and are very proud to have a member of staff who made Cuba his home for a couple of years.  This wealth of knowledge means we are well placed to advise you on how to make your trip to Cuba a memorable one.

When to go?

Cuba is always warm and as with all tropical countries you will see some rain, often in the afternoon and always short and sharp. There is no bad time to visit, but the rainfall is at its heaviest from late summer to November, when the chance of tropical storms increases. No time is a bad time to visit but we recommend January to April - the months with the least rainfall.

Food & drink

Don’t expect to see McDonalds or KFC in Cuba. Instead there is a fabulous mix of international standard restaurants located in or around hotels and resorts, alongside local restaurants serving traditional favourites such as roast pork with rice & black beans washed down by liberal quantities of rum, the drink that makes Cuba tick.
